The release of the core rules and additional sneak peeks from GW gives us an insight into some of the changes. While some people are happy with 7ed, a lot of people would prefer to switch over entirely and play both Heresy and 40k with the new rules. This hasn’t always been handled well and GW has seen push back from players who were angry over such drastic steps. A few months ago, in response to a thread on Heres圓0k entitled Playing Heresy in 8ed, a few regular posters started sharing ideas for how we could fill in the gaps and play Heresy with the 8th Edition 40k ruleset. GW has said that this is not a total rule rewrite and that all existing codex and supplements will still be valid. Since then the game has undergone 8 iterations bringing us to the 9th Edition, which is set for release on July 25th, 2020. Whilst not benefiting from the range or power of its larger cousins, the charger retains the volkite beam's deflagrating effects and allows its wielder a greater degree of movement. It was an instant hit, and it became so popular that GWs main focus allegedly switched from Fantasy to 40K. Volkite Charger The Volkite Charger is a type of Volkite Weapon that was used during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy by the Legiones Astartes and Mechanicum. Warhammer 40,000 was originally released back in 1987 and was designed by Rick Priestly as a sci-fi equivalent to their Warhammer Fantasy series.

The release of the new rules came at somewhat of a surprise to many, but it has given us a chance to take a look at how the 9th edition changes will affect our game.

The core rules are not a full rule book, but instead, describe the essential mechanics that take place in a game of Warhammer 40K. I’ll be using my Mechanicus force from the previous project log posts so apologies for the unfinished minis. This weekend saw the release of 8th edition 40k & so this will be my first official battle report. Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition is just around the corner and boy are we excited!
